Proverb of the day

The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.

Proverbs 15:3

We live in a very strange world, one where God’s principals reign supreme and yet they are violated by everyone. As Christians we understand that if we live our life by God’s guidelines we will prosper. If we are honest we will confess that it boils our blood when we see those who rage against God prospering. We wonder out loud; God where are you? How can you tolerate this?

Jeremiah asks this same question of God in Chapter 12 of his book. Go read it and hear the response of the LORD as he gives it to Jeremiah.

His answer…

I see everything.

His response isn’t in line with how we would respond. We would prefer wrath, maybe even a little fire and brimstone. The problem with our response is that we would also be condemning ourselves. God is patient and He simply replies by telling us that there is nothing going on, good or bad that He doesn’t see. He’s got it. He’s in control. Maybe it’s today, tomorrow, in ten years or at the end of everything, no matter when, He will act. There is nothing that escapes Him.

Our response ought to be to take comfort and gain peace knowing He is in control. Furthermore we should thank the LORD for being just a patient with them as He was with us.
